VSECU Announces New Board Members

During its 61st Annual Meeting in March, the member-owners of VSECU (Vermont State Employees Credit Union) elected four new members to represent them on its board of directors. The new members include Wayne C. Hersey, Thomas G. Joslin, Terence D. “Terry” Macaig and Giovanna Peebles. Kimberly B. Cheney was also re-elected for his third term to fill the fifth open board position.

VSECU’s 11-member board serves as a liaison between members and the credit union and establishes policy and oversees the general management of the credit union according to its bylaws, federal and state regulation and prudent business practices.

Kimberly B. Cheney, Middlesex, practices law in Montpelier and has served Vermont as the Washington County state's attorney and Vermont attorney general. Cheney has been chairman of the U.S. Civil Rights Advisory Committee and chairman of the Vermont Labor Relations Board as well as served on legislative family law reform committees and the Montpelier School Board.

 

Wayne C. Hersey, Montpelier, has 32 years of experience in the financial services industry. He was employed as an auditor and securities analyst with National Life of Vermont and was responsible for asset/liability management and investments at Burlington Savings Bank/Bank of Vermont. He was also president and treasurer of CTC Capital Corporation. Hersey has previously served on the board of directors from 1992-1998 and was treasurer for five of those years. 

Thomas G. Joslin, Jericho, is an environmental engineer for the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, Agency of Natural Resources. He has also worked for engineering firms in Vermont’s private sector as a project engineer. Joslin has contributed his time to a number of Vermont organizations over the past 30 years.

 

Terence D. “Terry” Macaig, Williston, is a retired Vermont state employee, who worked for the Department of Health for 38 years in many capacities.  He was a member and past board chair of the board of trustees for the Vermont State Retirement System. He has contributed to his Williston community as a member of the Williston select board for six years, serving as chair for the past two years.

 

Giovanna Peebles, Montpelier, has been Vermont state archeologist since 1976 and is nationally recognized in the historic preservation field and actively promotes greater awareness of Vermont’s archeology and history.  Her background includes extensive research on Native American history and culture and Vermont history.
